Dear
Member of the Public,
The
Southeast Minnesota Association of REALTORS®,
through the Minnesota Association of REALTORS®
provides a service to the public for filing
a complaint against a REALTOR®.
Included with this letter is a copy of the year
2004 REALTORS® Code of Ethics and
a form for filing a complaint. If you
wish to file a complaint, complete the form,
indicating which Article(s) you feel the REALTOR®
has violated. Please include a written
summary of the situation and any supporting
documentation. The complaint must be filed
within one hundred eighty (180) days of the
transaction or when the facts constituting the
matter complained of could have been known.
When
this office receives your complaint, we will
forward it to the Minnesota Association of REALTORS®
that processes all complaints. They will notify
the REALTOR® by sending him/her a
copy of the complaint. The Minnesota Association
of REALTORS® Grievance Committee
will then review the complaint to determine
if further investigation is necessary.
If
it is determined that further investigation
is warranted, a hearing will be scheduled before
a Hearing Panel of the Professional Standards
Committee. The REALTOR® will then
be required to file a written response to the
complaint and you will receive a copy of the
reply. You will be asked to appear at the hearing
to state your case.
If
you have any questions, please do not hesitate
to contact Cheri
Libby
at the Minnesota Association of REALTORS®
(1-800-862-6097). The MN Dept. of Commerce (1-800-657-3602,
#3 Enforcement) can be of help if you feel there
has been a violation of license law.
Sincerely,
Kathleen
